THE CARELENS.AI
story

CareLens.AI was founded by Ted Spooner and Dave Van Andel, digital health pioneers who previously built mymobility, one of the largest patient engagement platforms in orthopedics at Zimmer Biomet.

Their partnership began at Respondwell, a physical therapy automation company that Ted founded and where Dave served as Chief Clinical Officer. Following Zimmer Biomet's acquisition of Respondwell, Ted and Dave led the global expansion of the patient engagement platform. Ted forged strategic partnerships with tech giants Apple and Microsoft, while Dave directed landmark clinical research, including a groundbreaking 7,000+ patient Apple Watch study.

Throughout their journey, they witnessed a persistent challenge: surgical facilities lacked real-time visibility into their most critical operations. While patients had AI-powered tools to optimize recovery, healthcare teams operated largely without actionable data.

In 2024, they set off to solve this problem. CareLens.AI applies sophisticated observational data collection, intelligence, and  analytics to operating rooms—delivering real-time insights that help surgical teams perform more procedures with higher quality and patient safety.
